Verlare Cleaners was established in 1961 by Richard Verlare, a 2nd generation drycleaner, originally from Sheboygan, Wisconsin. His first dry cleaning plant was located in Franklin Park, Illinois and proved to be very successful. In 1974, he decided to branch out, opening a second location on York Road in Elmhurst. He operated out of a small house for the first few years, then later built a full service dry cleaning facility at the current location, 104 W. Vallette Street.

Robert Zownorega

Robert is a graduate of Timothy Christian High School in Elmhurst and went on to get his Business Degree At NIU. He was fortunate enough to have met his wife Kelly right out of high school and enjoys spending his downtime with his three boys. He began his career working in corporate finance for a Fortune 500 company but always had a strong desire to own his own business. He got that chance in 2004 when he began working for family friends, the Verlare’s. 


Over the past 20 years in the business, Robert has grown the Verlare Brands to stretch to an even bigger footprint adding a FREE delivery service and locations in La Grange and Burr Ridge. With ambitions to do more he is looking to add Wash and Fold and new locations to be able to give the Verlare service to even more clients in the Chicagoland area. As the Vice President of the Illinois Professional Dry Cleaners and Launders he stays on top of all the cutting edge product and equipment to ensure the highest standard of service.
